Masterpieces of the Louvre

A private walk through the staples, at our own pace. I'll handle the tickets, you just bring your curiosity.

Duration

2 hours

Group Size

Max 6

Highlights

  • Mona Lisa — We'll find a way to see it without the stress, and I'll tell you why it actually became famous (it’s not what you think)
  • Winged Victory of Samothrace — Even with the crowds, there’s a specific angle where it still feels massive
  • Venus de Milo — The myths versus the history, and why it's still the standard for 'perfect' art
  • Liberty Leading the People — Revolution on a massive scale (look for the small details in the background—they’re the best part)
  • The Grand Gallery — The quintessential Louvre walk, but I’ll point out the gems often skipped
  • Sully Wing staples — A few choice pieces picked based on what you’re enjoying
  • Denon Wing essentials — The heavy hitters, but with a flow that makes sense
  • The 'Unlisted' Gems — Usually, these are the pieces guests remember most—the ones without the long lines
  • Sightlines — I'll show you where to stand to actually see the art and maybe grab a decent photo
  • Context that sticks — No dry lectures. Just the 'why this matters' part

Quick Overview

  • Your group only (up to 6 people)
  • Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours—depends on how much we linger
  • Focus: Sully and Denon wings (where the icons live)
  • Tickets included in the price
  • Languages: Ask if you need something other than English
  • Who it’s for: First-timers who want the hits without the headache, couples, or friends
  • Kids: I can turn this into a treasure hunt if you've got little ones in tow

The Experience

The mistake most people make at the Louvre is trying to see everything. You’ll just end up with "museum feet" and a headache. I prefer a focused approach. We stay in the Sully and Denon wings—that's where the big stories are—and we take our time.

I’ll help you navigate the maze so you're not staring at a map the whole time. Instead, we’ll look for the things you’d miss on your own: the weird composition choices, the political power plays hidden in the portraits, and the actual human drama behind the marble. If you need to sit down for ten minutes or want to spend longer staring at a specific painting, that’s fine. It’s your tour.

If you have trouble walking long distances, just let me know beforehand. I can tweak the route to use elevators and find the shortest paths between the highlights.

Good to Know

  • Timing: Try to get there 10–15 minutes early so we can clear security and get moving.
  • Weather: Rain doesn't matter since we're inside.
  • Restrooms: I know where the good ones are.
  • Late Arrivals: If you’re late, it cuts into our time, but I’ll still make sure we see the big stuff.
  • Tickets: Already handled. I'll have the details in your confirmation.

Choose Your Tour Length

Classic (2 hours)

The hits. We hit the main icons in Sully and Denon without feeling like we’re rushing too hard.

Extended (2.5 hours)

A bit more breathing room. We can add a few extra rooms or just spend longer chatting about the pieces you love.
