The Experience
Before Versailles, the court lived here. Louis XIV was born in this château, which now holds France's national archaeology museum, from the first humans to the Merovingians.
We see the museum's treasures, including the Lady of Brassempouy, one of the oldest carved human faces in the world, then walk Le Nôtre's Grande Terrasse with Paris laid out on the horizon.
We finish in the elegant old town, past Debussy's birthplace. It's thirty minutes from central Paris by RER, and wonderfully calm after the crowds of the city.
